The Bombing Of Japan
Some 165 people are believed to have been in both Hiroshima and Nagasaki when the cities were hit by nuclear bombs in August 1945.
These people became known as nijyuu hibakusha, or “twice-bombed.”
The Enola Gay
The plane used to drop the atomic bomb that devastated Hiroshima on August 6, 1945.
Enola Gay was placed in storage less than four weeks after the bombing and never flew another combat mission.
In WWII, when allied armies reached the Rhine River the first thing men did was pee in it. This was pretty universal from the lowest private to Winston Churchill (who made a big show of it). Gen. Patton had himself photographed in the act.
